Typical Nile Cruise Itinerary (Luxor - Aswan - Luxor)

Day 1 - Arrival

Arrive at Luxor airport.
Meet and greet by local representative and transfer to your boat.
Check in to your cabin before dinner and over night on board as we depart. for Esna.

Day 2

Enjoy your first sunrise as we sail to Edfu to visit the extraordinary Temple of Horus, the mythical son of Isis and Osiris. Here, legend says, Horus avenged the murder of his father Osiris by defeating his father's brother Seth in combat. Following lunch the afternoon is free for leisure as we sail to Aswan. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 3

Visit the high dam which controls the flow of the Nile, an engineering miracle when it was built in the 1960S, it contains 18 times the material used in the Great Pyramid of Cheops. Then onto the Unfinished obelisk in its bedrock of pink granite and take a short boat trip to the Temple of Philae dedicated to the Egyptian god Isis. The temple was moved 550 metres from its original location on Philae Island in 1971, when the high dam was completed, using money from UNESCO to its new home on Agilika Island.

Following lunch an afternoon felucca cruise along the Nile enjoying the views of the Aga Khan mausoleum, Elephantine and Kitcheners Islands. Dinner and overnight board.

Day 4

An early departure if the optional excursion to Abu Simbel by air has been chosen. Then we set sail for Kom Ombo. enjoying lunch on board. Then we visit the Temple dedicated to the two gods Sobek and Haroeris. Sobek was the crocodile god of Nile fertility before sailing onto Esna. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 5

Today we continue sailing onto Luxor with the morning free for leisure enjoying lunch on board. Following lunch, we visit the East Bank temples of Karnak and Luxor. Karnak is the biggest temple complex in the world with the famous 138 gigantic columns. Luxor faces the Nile and was originally joined to Karnak by an avenue of Sphinxes over 2 kms long. In the evening a possible optional excursion to the sound and light show at Karnak. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 6

An early morning excursion to the Necropolis of Thebes better known as the West Bank of Luxor. Here we visit the Valley of the Kings and the tombs of the new kingdom pharaohs including Tutankhamen (separate ticket required) and Ramses the Great.

Day 7

Today we move to the Temple of Deir El Bahari the mortuary temple of Queeh Hatshepsut with its 3 terraces, before a photo stop at the imposing Colossi of Memnon. Lunch on board as we set sail for Esna and an afternoon free for leisure as we cross the lock. Dinner and overnight on board.. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 8 - Return Home

Head from Luxor Nile dock to your Hotel in Luxor.

Please Note: The order or content of your itinerary may have to be amended due to lock closures, low water levels or any other unforeseeable circumstances. Due to the increasing number of boats on the Nile, at some docking points boats are moored side by side obstructing the view from cabins.

General Information: Occasionally, due to operational difficulties a change of vessel can occur. However, the sightseeing itinerary will remain the same. At busy mooring points in Luxor and Aswan, boats often moor next to each other, this effects will restrict the views from cabins on board.
